Do Something Nice for Your Mama

Mother's Day is just around the corner (you're welcome). From sweets to shopping to a stellar meal, we've got some ideas for how you can thank mom for, well, your existence.

Sweets

Mother and daughter in pastry shop

If mom has a sweet tooth, there's no shortage of treats in Gwinnett.

The Chocolaterie in downtown Duluth serves up beautiful, handmade chocolate truffles in unimaginable flavors. They've also got fudge, ice cream and other desserts. Be sure to check out their cards and gifts too.

At Peterbrooke Chocolatier, you can grab mom some delicious chocolate-covered popcorn or hand dipped treats, like graham crackers and cat tails.

If pastries are mom's thing, try Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe or Paris Baguette for beautiful cakes, buns, tarts and donuts.

Shopping

Whether you take mom shopping or pick up a present for her, there are several stops in Gwinnett where you can find unique gifts.

Personify Shop in Duluth is actually the brainchild of mother-daughter team, Tammy and Maddie. You'll find on-trend clothes and accessories and handmade items by talented artists.

If mom is into relaxing, pop into Buff City Soaps in Peachtree Corners to grab the best handmade bath bombs, soaps, and scrubbing salts.

Mom might adore having a nice piece of locally handmade jewelry to brag to her friends about. If that's the case, take her to pick out a special piece from Anna Balkan Jewelry. These handcrafted necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings are composed of the finest natural semi-precious gemstones and pearls from around the world.

DIY

If your mom is a Do-It-Yourselfer purchase a gift card that will let her get her hands a little dirty.

Help your mom bring out her inner Frida Kahlo. Purchase an art class at Hudgens Art Center. Options include watercolor, acrylics, drawing, ceramics and more. If she's far from Frida's talent but still wants to swing a paintbrush, plan an outing at Masterpiece Mixers or Painting with a Twist where you'll be lead step-by-step in creating your very own masterpiece.

If Joanna Gaines-esque projects are more of your mom's style, try AR Workshop in Lawrenceville where she can make wooden signs, trays or picture frames by hand.

If quality time with little ones is the goal try Eye Candy Art Studio in Duluth for ceramic goodies painted by you or your littles!

Foodie

Treat mom to a bite to eat at some of Gwinnett's exceptional restaurants. Or get bonus points for booking her a spot on a future Seoul of the South Korean Food Tour or the Sippin' in the Suburbs Gwinnett Brewery Tour.

Take mom to weekend brunch at La Belle Vie in Suwanee. They've got fluffy omelets, crepes, sweet honey croissants and more. Be sure to make a reservation. Also, check out our list of best brunch spots in Gwinnett!

Mom might want something on the casual side, and if that's the case, Rico's World Kitchen in Buford is your stop. Be sure to try "Nett's Lumpia", Filipino-style eggrolls and the cakes that are made daily in-house.

If you want to show off, take mom to Noona Steakhouse & Oyster Bar in Duluth. Stroll through downtown Duluth afterwards and grab a beer at Good Word or one of our other local breweries.

Check out some other exciting local events.

Self-proclaimed foodie and adventurer, Jessica loves to explore Gwinnett and all the great dining, shopping, activities and events the area has to offer. When she's not telling you guys what dishes to try or where to be, she's reading, spending time outdoors or catching up on the latest Netflix original series (who else loved Stranger Things??). She's got an Australian Shepherd that's basically her child and a husband, who always comes second to the dog (sorry, not sorry).
