911 Memorial Event
Overview
On Friday, September 11, the City of Suwanee will host a small ceremony in remembrance of those who lost their lives as a result of and in response to the terrorist attacks that took place across the country 25 years ago. The ceremony will include comments from Mayor Jimmy Burnette, a special guest speaker who was directly affected by the events surrounding the attacks, and a flag and wreath-laying ceremony led by the Gwinnett County Fire Department.
The ceremony will take place at Remembrance Plaza, a permanent art feature that commemorates the events of 9/11 and includes a steel remnant from one of the former World Trade Center towers. The plaza is located in Town Center Park near the intersection of Buford Highway and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. Guests are asked to bring chairs or remain standing for the brief ceremony and remarks, and are welcome to bring flowers, small flags, or other commemorative items.
