The Seoul of the South

JS Kitchen

As the rise and popularity of Korean cuisine continues, there is a new spot new to Duluth that offers something a little different for everyone. JS Kitchen, brought to you by the team behind the extremely popular Jang Su Jang restaurant, has opened its doors to the public, and it is great.

The idea behind the JS Kitchen concept is high end Korean catering for special events, but there is also a retail component that sells portions of a variety of banchan (side dishes) and take out meals. If you have ever been to Jang Su Jang, you know that their banchan is what sets them apart from many other Korean restaurants in the area. Now, you can buy these delectable side dishes and enjoy them with other popular take out items in the comfort of your own home.

The interior space is very clean and contemporary at JS Kitchen, with simple elements that almost provide a bakery or cafe feel. Make no mistake though, you know that you are in a Korean food store as soon as you see that dishes of banchan in the refrigerated display cases through the space. There is a wide variety ranging from the ubiquitous kimchi to other special side dishes that are the chef's favorites from home. The food is wonderful, and you are able to try small samples of different pickles and side dishes before purchasing a larger portion to take home.

Another really unique and exciting element of JS Kitchen is their planned culinary classes. The team is working on a platform to regularly provide cooking classes and demonstrations for those interested in learning more about Korean cuisine and how to make their own at home. Schedules for learning certain dishes such as family style meals or just side dishes change regularly, so be sure to check out their website for updates on dates and times.

If you are in the mood for a quick bite or have ever thought of catering Korean cuisine for any event, JS Kitchen is your one-stop shop. Be sure to stop by, ask questions, and maybe we will see you in one of their culinary classes very soon!
