Have You Been to 2 Smith Art Gallery?

From art classes and events to an exquisite art gallery, there's a lot to see and do at 2 Smith Art Gallery.

Located on Main Street in downtown Duluth, 2 Smith Art Gallery was started by husband and wife team Larry and Pam Smith. The two opened the gallery after twenty years of partnership at their own advertising agency in Atlanta. 2 Smith Art Gallery is much more than just an art exhibit—they also offer classes and other special events.

The Gallery
The gallery houses affordable, original art work from over 30 regional and national artists. You'll find a number of oil paintings, some done by Larry and Pam themselves. You'll also find works by painters like Li Wang and Bert Beirne.

The gallery is also home to one-of-a-kind wooden bowls and boxes, beautiful hand-made jewelry, metal and bronze sculptures, clay and more. Spike Cloninger's wood-turned bowls and Louis Gonzalez's unique glass-like sculptures by can be found here. Other artists who are featured in the gallery include Joseph Oliver, John Mauer and Tazewell Morton, among others.

The Classes
On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Pam and Larry transform the gallery into a studio for their oil painting classes. They've taught over 100 students since 2008, and are the teacher dream team. Their ultimate goal is, "to help maximize your painting experience, by giving you the opportunity to interact and learn from two different teachers during your class time."

Their series of six, three-hour classes are offered four times a year during each season. And, while painting supplies aren't included in the class fee, you can find everything you need for purchase at 2 Smith Art Gallery.

The Events
The gallery hosts all kinds of events throughout the year. Recently, they hosted an open house and artist reception for some new works that were temporarily on view in the gallery. They also host seasonal events, such as their Christmas Open House, coming up on December 3. During this event, you'll see new oil paintings and other pieces all for purchase. So, if you're looking for the perfect Christmas gift for the art lover in your life, we bet you can find it here.

Pam and Larry are both available for commissions. Larry paints impressionistic landscapes and Pam works with oil portraits and figurative paintings. They've both won a number of awards—Larry was recently awarded “Best of Show – Oil and Acrylic Painting” category at the 2016 Atlanta Dogwood Festival.
