International Foodies Rejoice

Gwinnett, or Seoul of the South, has the South's largest Korean population. And it is the home of Atlanta's top international food markets—Super H MartAssi Plaza and the Global Mall. Kimchee chefs, amazing food courts, Korean-infused kitchen items and some of the best food photo ops in town are just the beginning. The Mega Mart features thousands of unique food and home items, many with an Asian Flair. Whether you are looking for Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese or really any other Asian cuisine, head to Gwinnett.

Due to the growing Korean population in Gwinnett, our area has experienced an influx of Korean businesses and restaurants. Our county is home to authentic Korean BBQ joints, restaurants with genuine Korean snacks, Korean-American fusion restaurants and more. Explore Gwinnett hosts "Seoul of the South" Korean food tours in order to immerse locals and visitors in the true Korean culture. Learn more about the tours here.

Explore Gwinnett has a Korean speaking staff member, Sarah Park, who can assist with information and facilitate interviews.

The New Downtown Experience

Gwinnett's cities are an eclectic mix of new and old, and each one is bursting with events, cafes, kid-friendly developments and wide-open green space. The award-winning Suwanee and Suwanee Town Center Park features a wide array of restaurants, shops and galleries, anchored by a 10-acre urban-style park, the Big Splash interactive water fountain and the Suwanee Creek Greenway.

Norcross is known as "a place to imagine." This historic town, with a downtown fully located on the National Register of Historic Places, has a drive to bring arts, music and a creative flair to every event and restaurant. Downtown restaurants are dotted with local artwork, and one of Atlanta's top art festivals, Norcross Art Splash, is held here every October.

Historic Lawrenceville is anchored by the 1885 Gwinnett Historic Courthouse, home of notorious publisher Larry Flynt's trial and shooting. There's a rooftop bar, live music, shops, antiques and it's the home of metro Atlanta's top professional theater, the Aurora Theatre. The city is also home to one of Gwinnett's first beer breweries, Slow Pour Brewing Company.

Downtown Duluth is historic, but forward-looking. The city has seen an abundance of development lately, including the addition of several new restaurant and retail options. Good Word Brewing and Public House is the place to be if you're craving a craft beer. Enjoy chef-driven restaurants, unique boutiques and a variety of local events sure to please, like Food Truck Fridays and other seasonal sensations.

Culture

The BAPS Hindu Mandir (temple) is the largest temple in the U.S. and one of metro Atlanta's most spectacular cultural highlights. Visitors can tour the temple alone, grab a head set for an audio tour or have a guided tour. Tour highlights include the viewing of the sacred deities and the Aarti Ceremony (depending on time of day). Something folks always find shocking is that there's no structural metal in the entire Mandir—pieces was hand carved in India, shipped to the states, and put together piece-by-piece with a lock-and-key system. Be sure to check out the website for dress restrictions and viewing times.
