The Gwinnett Young Singers of Atlanta was organized in 1990 to provide an advanced choral opportunity for singers in second through twelfth grade. Under the direction of Founder and Music Director Lynn Urda, the Young Singers have rapidly become a nationally recognized children's chorus, well-known for its mastery of challenging repertoire and exceptionally high musical standard. The faculty and staff of Gwinnett Young Singers are dedicated to professionalism in music education and strive to share the power and beauty of a wide variety of choral music.
The most unique characteristic of the chorus is its pure and resonant vocal tone which continues to captivate audiences and gain spirited ovations. In recognition of this exquisite sound and disciplined musicianship, the chorus has received numerous invitations to perform at both the national and international level.
GYS is the official children's choir of the Hudgens Center for the Arts and performs frequently with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Atlanta Sacred Chorale. They have performed with the ASO on their holiday performances for over 10 years, and were nominated for a 2002 Grammy alongside the ASO.
