Kang Buk is a Korean-Japanese seafood restaurant that specializes in fresh sashimi, sushi and hot dishes very popular across East Asia. The restaurant is located off on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road near the H-Mart center. The interior boasts a comfortable setting with traditional Asian decor, and there are nice options for sitting in private rooms if you prefer to sit away from the sushi bar. The servers are very friendly and happily answer all questions about the extensive menu.
Two of the most popular items on the menu include the Kang Buk Jung Shik, which is one of several set menus offered at lunch or dinner. This delicious set includes a starter of pumpkin porridge, a side of tempura, small sashimi and sushi plates, grilled fish, and at the end of the meal, if you still have space, there is rice with a spicy fish stew. Absolutely awesome!
Another popular dish is the grilled eel over rice, Jang-uh Gui. The eel is fileted and delicately grilled before the house soy-based sauce is applied. The generous portion is then placed over a bowl of rice to be enjoyed with the traditional Korean side dishes and miso soup. Grilled eel is very popular in summer months across Asia, as it is said to boost one's energy levels. The meaty texture also offers a savory option for guests who may not want something too fishy.
These two dishes are definitely the highlight of my visit, but if you are in the mood for something else, the menu also includes items such as Tonkatsu, deep fried pork cutlet, and udon noodle bowls. You will be able to find something for everyone in your family or party to enjoy a great meal.
