Happiness is only a cupcake away.

Sugar Hill is one of the fastest growing cities here in Gwinnett. And, while there's a lot of new development going on, there are a few businesses who have been around for a spell. The Sugar Hill Bakery & Cafe is one of these establishments, and if you haven't been yet, you're missing out on an enchanting experience.

The restaurant's been open for just about seven years, and their "country French" decor is reason alone to pay them a visit. Whimsical is the word we'll use. Of course, they also offer a wonderful brunch, lunch and dinner menu, as well as a range of delectable desserts.

We headed over for lunch, and had to try out some of their Peanuts-inspired menu items. "What do you mean 'Peanuts-inspired," you ask? Several of the sandwiches share a name with Peanuts characters, for instance, the Charlie Brown and the Snoopy. We ordered the Linus & Lucy, made up of potato onion and cheddar bread, house-made mac and cheese and maple smoked bacon. Yes—you read that right—mac and cheese on a sandwich. And man, was it delicious.

We also thought we'd order something a little more traditional, and tried the High Shelf Burger. It may include the typical fixins of a burger, but it was definitely one of the best we've had.

If you're interested in brunch, you'll find dishes like créme brúlée French toast, a western omelet and The Pink Flamingo—French brioche bread, Greek yogurt, strawberry puree, whipped topping and confectionery sugar. The menu is just as unique as the furnishing. Grab a glass of wine, a beer or a mimosa to accompany your meal.

You'll need to save room for dessert, too. The bakery is serving up a variety of cheesecake bars (GET THE OREO), Sugarhillville cupcakes and cakes, bourban pecan pie and more.

If we haven't already presented you with enough unique-ness (it's a word now), there's a whole little "town" surrounding Sugar Hill Bakery & Cafe. Visit the Boutique at Sugar Hill for clothing, jewelry and accessories. Host your next get together in the Storybook Garden. Bring your furry friend to Peanuts & Friends, an area behind the bakery where puppies and full grown dogs can enjoy the ultimate fine dining experience with Snoopy! Grab a seat outside, and let your pet enjoy treats, water, doggie wine and even specialty cakes made for dogs.

The Sugar Hill Bakery & Cafe is a hidden gem here in Gwinnett. But, not anymore becuase we told you about, so we hope you find yourself there soon.
